SHUROLOK Music Appreciation and Performance Group of
Melbourne
SHUROLOK Music Appreciation and Performance Group of Melbourne
staged its inaugural program “ALOKER JHORNADHARA” coinciding Bangla Bobo Borsho
and Robindro Jonmodin on 28 April evening at the Karralyka Theatre. A well
attended function, the members of SHUROLOK performed songs of Poncho Kobi as
well as folks songs from the traditional Bangali treasure of music. The program
was directed by Chanchal Khan and was also participated by distinguished guest
artistes Rahul Chatterjee, the sitar legend from Kolkata and Forid Uddin (tabla
player) from Dhaka. Due to illness, Durbadal Chatterjee was unable to perform
that evening. Three prominent cultural groups of Melbourne, Natya Kala Mandir,
Kathak Abriti Kendra and Bangla Language and Cultural School also participated
in the program. The program started with a welcome speech by Chobi Hossain,
