বাঁধ ভাঙার আওয়াজ ব্লগে গত ১৭
সেপ্টেম্বরের ব্লগার মানবীর একটি পোস্ট পড়েছিলাম "নির্যাতিতের ঘরে ফেরা",
অজস্র লেখার মাঝে লেখাটিতেও চোখ বুলিয়েছিলাম। মানবী একজন সাধারন মানুষের কথা
ভাবছিলেন, একজন অসহায় নারীর কথা ভাবছিলেন, একজন সাধারন নারীর কথা বলতে
চেয়েছিলেন। আর আমি ভেবেছিলাম সেটা মুহুর্তের আবেগমাত্র, সময়েই কেটে যাবে।
গত ২২ অক্টোবর আবার মানবীর পোস্ট, এবার "সাংবাদিকদের প্রতি বিশেষ অনুরোধ....!"
ভুলেই গিয়েছিলাম সেই অসহায় নারীর কথা, নামটি যার 'রাহেলা'।

Politics:
action versus reaction
...
The context
Every action has consequences, good or bad. However, a person can act
without thinking about the consequences of his or her action. This
applies to social institutions such as politics and government which is
underpinned by human behaviour and actions. At this critical juncture in
the political history of Bangladesh, how do we explain the consequences
of past action or behaviour by the politicians and for that matter some
other groups in the society? I will attempt to offer a couple of
explanations based on science as well as religious beliefs.

সংক্রান্ত একটি প্রশ্ন নিজের মাঝে জাগে। প্রবাসে পরবর্তী প্রজন্মের জাতীয়তা
কি? কাগজে কলমে অনেকেই বৃটিশ, কেউ কেউ আমেরিকান, কেউবা জার্মান, আবার কেউবা
অস্ট্রেলিয়ান বা অন্যান্য জাতীয়তার। আবার কেউ কেউ বাংলাদেশীই রয়ে গিয়েছেন।
কাগজে কলমে কার কি জাতীয়তা সে আলোচনায় যেতে চাচ্ছি না। আলোচনার যা বলতে চাই
তা হোলো; এরা মনে, শিক্ষায়,সংস্কৃতি,ধর্মে বা মননে কোন জাতীয়তাবোধ নিয়ে
নিজেদের স্থান করে নিচ্ছেন পৃথিবীতে।

আনন্দের ঈদ
...
সবাইকে ঈদের শুভেচ্ছা জানাচ্ছি।
জাতি একটি ঐতিহাসিক ঈদ উদযাপন করলো। আমজাদ হোসেনের জব্বার আলিরা জেল হাজতে
সেমাই খেয়েছে এবারের ঈদের দিন। জেল খানায় নতুন জামা কাপড় পরে ঈদের নামাজে
যোগ দিয়েছে। এদের দশা দেখে এবারে ঈদে সত্যিকারের আনন্দ পেয়েছি। তবে গিয়াস
মামুনরা এখনও বলছে ‘এই দিন দিন না আরো দিন আছে’। আল্লাহ যেন এদের দিন আর না
ফেরায় এ দোয়া করেছি ঈদের মোনাজাতে।

"সেই তো আবার কাছে" মান্নাদের
একটি গানের একটি কলি। কলিটি প্রযোজ্য বাংলাদেশের বর্তমান সরকারের বেলায়।
শেখ হাসিনা যখন যুক্তরাজ্য ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সফর করছিলেন তখন তিনি বলছিলেন এ
সরকার অসাংবিধানিক। এ সরকার সাংবিধানিক বৈধতা হারিয়ে ফেলেছে যখন আমাদের
সেনাপতি বলেছেনসেনাবাহিনীর হসতক্ষেপের ফসল এই সরকার। যদি সেনাবাহিনী
হসতক্ষেপ করে থাকে তবে রাষ্ট্রপতি নিজ বুদ্ধি ও বিবেচনায় পদত্যাগ করেন নি
এবং নতুন করে সরকার গঠন করেননি। সুতরাং এটি সাংবিধানিক নয় বললে অপরাধ হবে
না। আর সংবিধান কোন আসমানী কিতাব নয় যে তাকে সবসময় এবং ১১ জানুয়ারীর মত
বিপদের দিনে তাকে আঁকড়ে বসে থাকতে হবে। দেশ ও মানুষের জীবনের নিরাপওা দিতে
সংবিধান। সুতারং হসতক্ষেপ যেমন অপরাধ নয় তেমনি কেউ যদি বলেন অসাংবিধানিক তবে
তাকে নিগৃহীত করা অনুচিত। কারণ বিষয়টি দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির ব্যাপার।

Benazir Bhutto returns to Pakistan: An Opportunistic Move?

Former
Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan on 18th
October from Dubai in the afternoon after eight years of self –imposed
exile. She was greeted by hundreds of thousands of her party supporters
at the Karachi airport. Her feudal family originates from Sindh province
and Karachi is her political base. Ms. Benazir Bhutto having entered
into an agreement to support President Musharraf for another term, whom
during the last eight years, she called a military dictator from exile,
is seen as an instance of political opportunism regardless of what it
costs for the nation. On the other hand, President Musharraf , when he
took power in October 1999, made sure that suspected corrupt former
Prime Ministers (Bhutto & Nawaz Sharif) must be punished so that they
could never come to power.

গত ১৩ই অক্টোবর শনিবার যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় ক্যানবরাতে ঈদুল ফিতর উদযাপিত হ্য়।
বাংলাদেশীসহ ক্যানবেরাস্হ সকল মুসলমান একই দিনে ঈদ পালন করেন। ক্যানবেরাতে
ঈদের প্রধান জামাত অনুষ্ঠিত হয় ইয়ারালামলাস্হ কেন্দ্রিয় মসজিদে সকাল আট
ঘটিকায়। ঈদের দ্বিতীয় জামাত অনুষ্ঠিত হয় সকাল নয়টায় 'ক্যানবেরা ইসলামিক
সেন্টারে'। ভারপ্রাপ্ত মান্যবর হাইকমিশনার জনাব রেস্তাদুল ইসলাম সহ
অন্যান্য মুসলিম দেশের অনেক কুটনিতিক কেন্দ্রিয় মসজিদে ঈদের নামাজ আদায়
করেন।

Bangladeshi develops humanoid robot from scrap

Move over
Japan? A Bangladeshi graduate student is developing a robot capable of
picking up objects, mopping floors and performing other simple tasks --
at the fraction of the cost of other humanoids. Feroz Ahmed Siddiky of
the International Islamic University in Chittagong says his "IRobo"
responds to voice commands, has spatial intelligence and is cheap
because it's made from scrap materials he's collected from electronic
shops and car mechanics. "On completion, this robot will comply with
different verbal commands for tasks like shifting objects, cleaning
floors and standing guard," Siddiky told Reuters. "It can also be
used for some risky jobs like in coal mines, where workers commonly
suffer many accidents." Siddiky has been working on the robot for two
years and says he has got another year's worth of engineering to do
before its completed. He said he is currently discussing commercial
production of the robot with an Australian software firm. "I hope people
will be able to buy it for less than $1,000," he added.

দেখে আবদুল গাফ্ফার চৌধুরিরা
বিশাল বিশাল লেখা লিখে ফেলতে
পারলেও আমার মতো চুনো পূঁটিরা
লিখতে পারি না। আমাদের মাঠে নামতে
হয়, মানুষের সাথে কথা বলতে হয়,
জীবনকে কাছ হতে দেখার চেষ্টা করতে
হয়। দেশের সংবাদপত্র বা টিভি
দেখেই যদি বলা যেতো দেশ খুব ভালো
আছে তবে অতীত একনায়কতন্ত্রের সময়ও
বলা যেতো দেশ ভালো ছিলো। বাস্তবতা
অনেকটুকুই ভিন্ন। বর্তমান
তত্বাবধায়ক সরকারের যার
সাংবেধানিক বৈধতা সম্পর্কে প্রশ্ন
রয়েছে সেই তত্বাবধায়ক সরকারের
কর্মকান্ডে আপাত খুশি কিছু সাধারন
মানুষ। বিশেষ করে চির চেনা
সুবিধাভোগী মধ্যবিত্ত শ্রেনী।

রাজনৈতিক ভবিষ্যতের রুপরেখা চাই

কোন বিদেশী যদি আমাদের রাজনৈতিক
ভবিষ্যত জানতে চান অর্থাৎ ২০২০ সালে আমরা কেমন বাংলাদেশ
চাই তা কিন্ত আমাদের নেই। সকল চিন্তা আমাদের থমকে আছে কবে
শেখ হাসিনা বা খালেদা জিয়া মুক্তি পাবেন। ওনারা করে এসে
আমাদের দিকনির্দেশনা দেবেন তবেই আমরা তা নিয়ে কথা বলবো।
ওনারা এসে হয় বলবেন বঙ্গবন্ধু বা জিয়ার স্বপ্ন বাস্তবায়ন
করবো তবে সবাই মুখে ফেনা তুলে ফেলবো। এই মেরুদন্ডহীন
রাজনীতি থেকে জাতিকে উদ্ধার করতে সেনাবাহিনী জনগণের পাশে
দাঁড়িয়ে দেখল সবই ফাঁকা। কারোও সাহস নেই সেনাবাহিনীর
চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবেলা করে দাড়ানো। সেনাবাহিনীকে কানে কানে
আমাদের অনেকেই বলেছিলেন যে দুই নেত্রী, দুই পরিবার এর
শৃংখলা থেকে মুক্ত না করা গেলে দেশ ও দশের ভাগ্যপরিবর্তন
করা সম্ভব নয়। কিন্তু তারা আজও নিজ পায়ে দাড়াতে সমর্থ হননি।

This is the Grameen Bank's world headquarters here in Dhaka.
Actually, it's the only thing about the entire Grameen global operation that
even vaguely resembles a bank. Basically, its founder Muhammad Yunus is an
American-educated economist who believes that being poor should not be a barrier
to being able to take out a loan to buy your way out of poverty. He's also toyed
with the idea of not just saving Bangladesh's beggars, but also going into
politics to try and save the entire nation.

Milieu

Personal
Background- Professor Muhammad Yunus is a PhD graduate from the
Vanderbilt University USA. He worked as a Professor of Economics in the
Middle Tennessee University before returning to Bangladesh in 1971 where
he joined the Chittagong University as the Head of its Economics
Department. Later Dr. Yunus left his teaching job to work on his idea of
Grameen Bank (meaning “Village or Rural Bank”) which was initiated in
1976 and formally founded in 1983. His Concern with Poverty- In 1974
while taking a group of his economics students from Chittagong
University on a field trip to a poor village, Dr. Yunus came across a
woman who made bamboo stools. He learnt that the women needed to borrow
the equivalent of 25c to buy raw materials for each stool she made and
after repaying the moneylender, sometimes at an interest rate as high as
10% a day (almost 3000% a year), she would be left with very little or
nothing. Dr. Yunus found that she was not the only one in that village
with such situation but there were 42 others creating a fortune for the
loan sharks. He was distressed that the complex economic theories that
he learnt did little to solve the problem of these poor people.

অভাগা দেশে হইবে কি যদি....দেবপ্রিয়
বাবুও সুইজারল্যান্ড চলে যান! তিনি কি তবে দেশ সেবা করবেন এবার প্রবাসে বসে?
উনি তারেক রহমান ও শেখ হাসিনার নেক নজর থেকে বিতাড়িত হয়েছিলেন বলে
নিরাপত্তাহীনতায় ভুগছেন কি? তিনিতো তো সৎ ও যোগ্য নেতৃত্ব প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য
দেশে আন্দোলন শুরু করেছিলেন। আর রাতের বেলায় বিদেশী কূটনীতিকদের বাসায়
ডিনার করতেন কিভাবে তাদের স্বার্থ নিশ্চিত করে লাভবান হওয়া যায়। এছাড়া উনি
ও আরও অনেক অর্থনীতিবিদের মত দিনে বিশ্বব্যাংক এর দালালী করতেন আর বিকেল
বেলা পত্রিকায় বিবৃতি দিতেন সরকার বা দেশের অর্থনীতি সমপর্কে । যাতে থাকতো
সমাজতনেত্রর গন্ধ। বুভুক্ষ বাঙালী সেই গন্ধ শুকে শুকে বেঁচে আছে। উনি না
বললেও ওনার মত বিশ্বব্যাংক বিশেষ-অজ্ঞ বিশ্বব্যাংককে দিয়ে ভারতে গ্যাস
বিক্রি, এশিয়ান এনার্জিকে কয়লা দিতে সরকারকে প্রভাবিত করতেন।
